I know everyone's talking about bold colours, colour blocking, colour clashing, hot pink, orange, blue and green this season but my eyes are on another trend: skin exposure and in particular bare midriffs. While revealing your entire belly is the tackiest thing you can do, showing just a bit of upper stomach can be sexy, mysterious, chic and playful all at the same time. There are many ways to try this. You can wear it with body-hugging skirts that hit just above the knee and a top that allows no exposure of cleavage. Pants are trickier, but wide-legged ones, paired with a midriff revealing top and a blazer can scream timeless elegance. There is of course the short puffy skirt which is risky, and reveals a lot of skin but still, some people can pull it off- only between 11 pm and 6 am and only if you have legs that go on for miles. My personal favourite way to play midriff peek-a-boo is with under the knee, A-line skirts and cropped tops in bold colours or sequins. Just remember, NEVER show your belly button, or you can go from stylish to banal in no time.
